The sizes of the explosions and labels are proportional to the number of casualties. The music is "Ride Of The Valkyries" by Richard Wagner. The data comes from the wikipedia article, List of Battles.Most of the activity seems to happen in Europe, this is because the english wikipedia was used. In a future release of this video I will merge wikipedias in different languages to solve this bias.

Why the hell is Australia the only continent other than barren Antarctica not taking part in this wonderful millennium of militaristic history we have here? Also, you forgot most of the pre-Columbian wars in the Americas, but other than that, it's pretty well put together. P.S. still waiting on that "future release" you mention in description. :) It's been 3 years.
